Bruins point guard Larry Taylor was nominated for NCCAA player of the week. Taylor was a dominant force in the Bruins wins over Columbia International University and Thomas University. Against CIU, Taylor scored 26 points, snagged 10 rebounds and dished out 9 assists in the Bruins 93-86 double OT win over the Rams. Taylor followed up the performance by helping the Bruins beat a tough opponent in Thomas University 83-72. In that game, Taylor scored 20 points with 5 assists, 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
"Larry possesses a calmness that allows him to make good decisions under pressure," Coach Neal Ring said. "He works very hard in our individual workouts and demonstrates a desire to improve each day we train as a team. He is an exceptionally talented basketball player who has a passion for Christ. I am thankful that God brought him to BJU and look forward to seeing how He will use us to minister for Him."
Taylor has been a key addition to the Bruins offense this season, which is averaging 74.2 points per game. The Bruins are 4-5 on the season, and will face Lincoln Memorial University on Saturday night in Tennessee.
