Sanders Named Head Athletic Trainer for Bruins Athletics

The Bob Jones University Bruins Athletics Department is excited to welcome Ryan Sanders as the Head Athletic Trainer for the program. Sanders works as one of the ATC's for Bon Secours St. Francis Sports Medicine which has been a partner with the Bruins athletics department for nearly a decade.

"We're excited to welcome Ryan to the department," Bruins Director of Athletics Dr. Neal Ring said. "We've had a great partnership with St. Francis Sports Medicine for many years and know that they will continue to provide excellent care for our student-athletes."

Taylor Wilson served as the Bruins Athletic Trainer for the past eight seasons, providing medical care during practices and games for both the Bruins teams and their opponents.

Ryan Sanders has over nine years of experience as an Athletic Trainer. He has worked extensively in the Greenville area at numerous community events. Sanders has a special connection to BJU as in 2018 he was instrumental in saving the life of BJU employee Andy Martin, who had collapsed after running in the Green Valley 8K race at Furman University. Sanders sprang into action providing two shocks from an Automated External Defibrillator in helping to save Martin's life.

Ryan is a graduate of Clemson University where he received a B.S. degree in Sports Marketing in 2008 and University of North Carolina at Greensboro where he received his M.S. in Athletic Training in 2011. He is married to his wife Jennifer and they have one daughter.

"I am very excited to be part of Bruins Athletics," Sanders said. "I am honored to be joining the BJU family and look forward to working with the staff and student-athletes."

BJU will enter provisional status as an NCAA DIII program this fall. The Bruins feature 12 varsity programs and over 175 student-athletes.
