Bruins Shutout Fourth Straight Opponent

Winning streak at four after a 4-0 defeat of Johnson University

Box Score
The Bruins have been on a roll over the past month. The team is playing with great intensity and seems to be growing stronger and stronger with each passing game. The main reason for this impressive run has been in the stellar defense the team continues to show. Over the last month, the Bruins have displayed great team play as the team has begun to gain more confidence with each win. For the last 270 minutes of play, the Bruins have not yielded a goal to their opponent. In fact, the last goal scored on the Bruins was on September 22nd against Concordia College.

The team looked to continue their impressive run as they traveled to Tennessee for a matchup with Johnson University. This game was played as the rescheduled match from the game postponed by rain on October 2nd.

From the opening kickoff, the Bruins had the run of possession and controlled the game. The Bruins were able to key in on strong defense and didn't allow Johnson University to make any runs on the net. The team also controlled possession which allowed for offensive advancement and open shot opportunities. Those open shot opportunities translated into several beautiful goals by the team. Ryan McCarty led the way with two goals on the night and Matt Moore and Daniel Herr each added goals in the 4-0 win.

"We are playing more composed and moving more quickly," Coach McCormick said. "We have had more energy and we are playing better as a team."

Throughout the game, the Bruins capitalized on a strong defensive effort which transitioned to easy offensive opportunities. "The defense played very well the entire game," Coach McCormick said. "We only allowed three shots on net which speaks to the effort." The physical intensity was strong as the Bruins won many of the one-on-one battles in open field to secure possession.

The Bruins have now outscored their opponents 17-0 in the last four games. The team will look to continue their winning streak as the team will welcome Clearwater Christian College on Friday night.
