Intercollegiate athletics at Bob Jones University prepares student-athletes through discipleship, the pursuit of excellence, partnership with others, and Christian service to utilize the platform of sport for the glory of God.

Philosophy:

• Bob Jones University desires to use intercollegiate athletics as a platform for ministry. Discipleship is a key component within the department. Student-athletes are encouraged to disciple others in the BJU community as well as present a compelling testimony for Christ to those with whom and before whom they compete. This is reflective of the institutional goals to develop students' capacity to Learn, Love, and Lead.
• Bob Jones University considers intercollegiate athletics to be an integral part of the University. Consequently, the Bruins Athletics program is expected to reflect the same standards of excellence and integrity that characterize the spiritual, instructional, and service activities of the University as a whole. The athletic program for men and women shall serve as a means of education through which a significant contribution may be made to the total development of each student-athlete.  
• Bob Jones University regards the student-athlete primarily as a student, with academic qualifications, individual rights, personal interests, and aspirations similar to those of all students. Student-athletes are encouraged to integrate fully into the broader community of students and to utilize the full range of services and opportunities provided by the University for the benefit of all students.
• Bob Jones University seeks to promote athletics as a unifying element that provides an opportunity for the faculty, staff, and student body to nurture a common sense of pride and unity for the university community.
• Bob Jones University is committed to the established NCCAA rules and regulations governing its intercollegiate athletics endeavors and espouses institutional control of athletics to assure compliance with rules and regulations. The president of Bob Jones University is responsible for and has final authority in all matters (including personnel) related to the operation of the intercollegiate athletics program.
