Game Preview: BJU vs. Clearwater

The Bruins are ready to take the field for the rematch with CCC

Alumni Appreciation Night's game brings with it a lot of anticipation and emotion as the Bruins men soccer team takes on the Clearwater Christian Cougars.

The game will start at 7 p.m. and will include a featured half-time recognition of a BJU Alumnist, as well as special opportunities for Alumni throughout the game.

The Bruins are looking for redemption after their heartbreaker 0-1 loss to the Cougars last week in Florida. On their home field, the Bruins are dominant, holding a 3-1 record, while Clearwater has lost five of their six road games this season. Last season, the Bruins defeated Clearwater 5-0 in Greenville.

Despite the final score last week, it was only an oddly-trickled in shot that put the Cougars up 1-0 at the end of the first half, a goal the Bruins couldn't respond to the rest of the game, although they had numerous shots on goal. The team also had 5 different shots hit off the sidebar or crossbar, but none could find the back of the net for the equalizer.

Coach Jesse McCormick emphasized last week the importance of playing smart early on. "We need to improve on simple decision making in front of the net to finish our chances," he said.

The Bruins come into the game with a 4-5-1 record, while the Cougars hold a 3-7-1 record for this season.
