Game Preview: Point University vs. BJU

Bruins welcome the Skyhawks to Alumni Stadium

Come out and watch the Bruins men soccer team as they take on the Point University Skyhawks Friday night at 7 p.m.

The Bruins are hoping to follow the example set earlier this week by the Bruins women, who also played Point University, beating the Skyhawks in a 2-0 shut out game on Tuesday night.

In their latest game on Thursday night, the Bruins men defeated the Toccoa Falls College in a 5-0 victory behind Matt Moore's hat trick. The Skyhawks, however, have been struggling to play consistently well, losing five of their last six games. Last year, the Skyhawks ended the season at 4-14, never gaining enough momentum to pull out wins. They have a much younger team this year, with one-third of the roster being freshman players. Their goalkeeper, Tony Olvera, is a returning junior and has been the Skyhawks one bright point the past couple seasons, being able to block numerous shots per game.

The Bruins have made great leaps forward in early season play and head coach Jesse McCormick was happy with his team's most recent win, saying recent improvements should help in tomorrow's game against the Skyhawks. "We have done a better job possessing the ball as well as creating quality goal scoring opportunities," He said.

The Bruins welcome the Skyhawks to Alumni Stadium for a Friday night showdown on the pitch. Come out and support your Bruins as they go for their third straight victory.
