Box Score Bruins captain Ryan McCarty celebrated his 21st birthday by scoring three goals in the second half to help the team defeat Toccoa Falls College 4-0 on Friday night. "It's always a team effort," McCarty said. "It is nice to score a hat trick period and was kind of an exclamation point for my birthday." The Bruins were coming off their first win of the 2014 season on Tuesday night as they defeated Montreat College 4-1. The Bruins have outscored the Eagles 8-0 in their two previous meetings and the team looked to keep their winning ways alive as they took the field under a picturesque sky of Alumni Stadium.

McCarty's hat trick helped the BruinsÂ
secure a 4-0 victory over Toccoa Falls College The Bruins came out with high energy from the start as the team looked to assert their possession game early. Crisp passing from the Moisant brothers helped to transition the ball into the attacking third for the offense to take shots. In the 8th minute of play,
Jared Simmons blasted a rocket shot into the back of the net off of a deflection to put the Bruins up 1-0.Â
Toccoa Falls looked to gain the equalizer but the consistent pace of the Bruins proved to be too much as the defense stood strong. Despite several near goals, the Bruins entered the half with a slim 1-0 lead.Â
"Consistency," Coach McCormick said. "We had it throughout the first half and we just looked to stay consistent in our play in the second half. Our team combined for some very quality chances." Â Â
In the second half, the Bruins continued to press the attacking third. Three minutes into the half, Bruins captain
Ryan McCarty bent a free kick beautifully into the back of the net to extend the Bruins lead 2-0. The Bruins captain wasn't finished as he went on to score off of a
corner kick in the 55th minute and a bending shot off the bar in the
78th minute. The Bruins held on for the clean sheet as they won their second straight match with a 4-0 victory over Toccoa Falls College.
"
We did a great job of putting shots away in the second half," Coach Jesse McCormick said. "Hopefully we keep going up as our chemistry gets better. We're getting some confidence with some goals these last few games. Things are starting to look really good for us."Â Â
With the win, the Bruins climb to 2-3 on the season. Ryan McCarty led the way for the Bruins with 3 goals and Jared Simmons scored his first goal for the Bruins. Ryan Beadles recorded the only assist on the night for the team. The Bruins outshot the Eagles 13-7 as the team dominated all aspects of the game.Â
Next up, the Bruins will welcome Palm Beach Atlantic University on Monday night to Greenville. Â
