Box Score The Bruins were on the road Tuesday night as they traveled to Truett-McConnell College for a match with the Bears. The Bruins were coming off a four-game home stand in which the team went 3-1. Their most recent win came on Friday night as the Bruins defeated Clearwater Christian College 4-1. Truett-McConnell entered Tuesday's match with a 4-5 record and were riding a two-game losing streak as they took the field in Cleveland, Georgia.
From the opening kickoff, the two teams went back and forth with both trying to establish possession. All throughout the half, the Bruins were able to get good looks on frame, but each shot sailed just wide. The Bears seized the opportunity and struck first with a goal in the 42nd minute to give them a 1-0 lead at the break.
"We had a lot of chances on goal but we just could not put one in the net," Coach Jesse McCormick said.
In the second half, it was much of the same for the Bruins as Ryan McCarty and the midfield generated open looks as the team looked to get the equalizer. Their push towards the net left them exposed as the Bears scored again in the 79th minute as the Bears held on to defeat the Bruins 2-0.
"We need to work on our organization," Coach McCormick said. "We need more consistency and need to have better decision making moving forward."
With the loss, the team falls to 3-5 on the season. Next up, the Bruins will be on the road again as they travel to Emmanuel College on Saturday night.
