Bruins Drop 3rd Straight in 3-0 Loss to Montreat

Box Score
The Bruins dropped another tough loss on the road Tuesday night as the team fell to Montreat College 3-0 in Montreat, North Carolina. "We struggled to maintain our defensive shape and pressure as a team," Bruins Head Coach Jesse McCormick said. With the loss, the Bruins drop their 3rd straight as they move to 1-4 on the season.

As the match began, the Bruins pushed the ball ahead as Jesse Rush fired a shot but it sailed just wide. The Cavs came charging back with scoring chances of their own but Isaac Landry was up to the task with several saves in the first half. Still, the two teams ended the half as they began it as the score was 0-0 at the break.

In the second half, the Cavs came out strong and broke the scoreless tie just 47 seconds into the half as Afonso Vieira buried a shot to give Montreat the lead 1-0. Just over 10 minutes later, the Cavs scored again to extend their lead to 2-0. Vieira would put the game out of reach for the Bruins in the 66th minute as he scored his second goal of the match to make it 3-0.

With just minutes remaining, the Bruins tried to be more aggressive offensively but they weren't able to find the back of the net as the team fell 3-0. The Cavs out shot the Bruins 24-7 on the night. Next up, the Bruins will return home Friday night as the team hosts Spartanburg Methodist College at 8 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
