After a dominate performance to open the 2020 season, the Bruins soccer team will welcome Carolina University on Saturday night to Alumni Stadium. The Bruins defeated Toccoa Falls College last week as the team scored five first-half goals en route to a 9-0 shutout. Gasheed Lareche led the team with a hat trick and was selected as the NCCAA DII National Player of the Week.
Carolina University, formerly called Piedmont International University, will play their season opener against the Bruins on Saturday night. The two programs have met just twice in their history with each team winning a match each.
Last season, the two Bruins squads met just once with Carolina winning the match 3-1. The Bruins had scored the games first goal, but three unanswered goals for Carolina handed the Bruins the loss.
Last season, CU finished the seaon at 9-8-2 before winning the NCCAA DI South Region Championship with a victory over Brewton-Parker College. At the national tournament, Carolina University lost both of their pool play matches.
Kickoff for the match on Saturday night is set for 7 p.m.
