Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Kaitlyn Unruh

Bruins Come Home with Win Over Wesleyan College

The women's basketball team came away with a road victory after they took down Wesleyan College 79-63. The Bruins continued their road game stretch after three games the week of Thanksgiving by traveling down to Macon, Georgia for this afternoon's game. This was fourth time playing and beating the Wolves as the Bruins improved to 4-5 on the season. Four players scored in the double digits today with Delaney Edwards and Annie Miller leading the team with 14 points each.

"We were able to get some good minutes on everyone and it was great to see our roster get back to full size," said Head Coach Mike LeViere.

The Bruins entered today's game after defeating Great Lakes Christian College 72-66 up in Michigan. Coming into today's game, the Bruins hadn't been able to play with a full team as players were out due to injuries. But several players were back in action today as the Bruins got off to a hot start this afternoon and were able to get a lot of different players time on the court.

Looking ahead at what the team needs to work on, Coach LeViere said that "we'll need to keep the offensive production up while also not letting the intensity in defense drop. When we changed up our defense we really struggled to rebound, so that will be an area we'll work on moving forward. It was great to see our starters establish tempo and get the lead. Then in the third quarter we saw our bench finish the quarter on a great run."

Delaney Edwards and Annie Miller both finished today's game with 14 points apiece. Tamrah Konieczka was close behind with 12 points and Catherine Skeebo came away with 10 in her first game of the season. Ainsley Hutton recorded 6 rebounds for the Bruins today. The team was 15 for 20 on free throws while shooting 37% from the field.

"It was good to get the W to end the week," said LeViere. "Now we'll learn from the experience and get ready for our next test on Tuesday."

The team is back at home on December 7 at 5 p.m. to face Brevard College for the second time this season.
