The Bob Jones University Bruins athletics department will be hosting six teams for the first annual Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Day Showcase in the Davis Field House in Greenville, South Carolina.
Six teams from around the Upstate or South Carolina will compete in the event with Travelers Rest High School, Greenville High School, Mauldin High School, and Hillcrest High School participating.
"We're excited to be able to host these high school programs here at Bob Jones University," Bruins Director of Athletics Dr. Neal Ring said. "Each of these programs represent our great community here in the Upstate and we're honored for them to come and compete on our campus."
The women's varsity teams from Travelers Rest and Greenville will kickoff the day competing at 1 p.m. The TR Devildogs enter the game at 3-8 on the season while the Greenville Red Raiders enter at 4-10 on the heels of four-straight losses.
Following the women's game, the varsity squads for the men's teams from Travelers Rest and Mauldin will take the court at 2:30 p.m. The Devildogs enter the game at 8-5 on the season and have a perfect 5-0 record at home. The Mauldin Mavericks are coming off a loss to Hillcrest High as the team sits at 8-7 on the season.
Rounding out the day, the varsity teams from Hillcrest and Greenville High will compete at 4 p.m. The Greenville Red Raiders stand at 8-5 on the season while Hillcrest enters the contest at 8-7.
