After four road games the Bruins basketball team will be back in the Davis Field House for back to back home games this weekend. The Bruins will welcome Johnson University (FL) on Friday before battling Southeastern Baptist College on Saturday. Both matchups this weekend are South region contests as the Bruins enter the weekend at 1-1 in region play.
The team hopes to bounce back after falling to Trinity Baptist College 60-57 on Monday night. The Bruins battled through a tough week of games as the team went 1-3 on their Florida road trip.
The Bruins welcome the Suns of Johnson University (FL) on Friday who enter the game at 4-8 on the season. Last week, the Bruins and Suns met in Kissimmee, Florida, with BJU edging Johnson (FL) 82-80. Henry Blair led the Bruins with 27 points and was one of four players to score in double figures in the win.
This will be the 9th meeting between the two programs with the Bruins owning a 7-1 record against the Suns. Tip-off for Friday's game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
On Saturday, the Bruins will face the Chargers of Southeastern Baptist College in just the third meeting between the two programs.
Last season, the Bruins were upset by the Chargers in the NCCAA DII South Regional quarterfinal. Despite six players scoring in double figures for the Bruins, the Chargers made key baskets down the stretch to capture the win and eventually the South Region title.
The Chargers come into Saturday's game winless on the year while the Bruins hope to put another region win in the standings to round out the weekend. Tip-off for Saturday's game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
