The Bruins open South region play on Saturday afternoon as the team faces Johnson University (FL) in Kissimmee, Florida. The Bruins come into the game at 4-8 on the season as the team is looking to get back on track after back to back losses to Webber International and Keiser University.
On Thursday, the Bruins rallied from an early deficit to take the lead, but couldn't hold on as the team fell to Keiser 76-67. Henry Blair and Eli Cupples combined to score 46 points in the game but it wasn't enough as the Seahawks pulled away late for the win.
The Johnson Suns come into Saturday's game at 4-7 after snapping a six-game losing streak with a win over Florida Gateway College on December 16. This will be the eighth meeting between the Bruins and Suns with the Bruins owning a 6-1 record all time against Johnson (FL).
In their last matchup, the Suns upset the Bruins 68-66 in the NCCAA DII South Region Championship during the 2019-20 season. Four players scored in double figures but it wasn't enough as the Suns pulled off the upset.
The Bruins will look to open region play strong on Saturday with tip-off scheduled for 3 p.m.
