In a NCCAA DI South Region showdown, the Bob Jones University women's soccer team came away with a 3-1 win over Warner University in Lake Wales, Florida. Today's win saw the Bruins improve their season record to 12-4-1 and extend their winning streak to six games. This also marked the first time the Bruins have secured a win against the Royals.
"I am so incredibly proud of this team for always giving their best effort," said Head Coach Chris Carmichael. "Today, despite a lot of fatigue from battling through a tough game and win yesterday, was no exception and it was incredible to see the players step up today and get the win. Two back-to-back road wins is always an incredible accomplishment especially when playing two tough opponents and working through the various challenges that we faced."
The Bruins came into Tuesday morning's match on the heels of a 5-4 victory over Florida College the night before. The last time the Bruins and Royals met was on November 19, 2021 where the Bruins fell to Warner University in the NCCAA DI South Region Finals. The Royals are 3-4-3 this season and entered Tuesday's tilt after back-to-back losses against SCAD-Savannah and Thomas University.

From the opening whistle, the game got off to a quick start as both teams battled for the ball. As the game settled, the Bruins were able to gain possession and had a couple good looks on goal.
After a nifty string of passes to get the ball back into the attacking zone, Anna Grace Abrams slipped to ball over to Kayle Stevenson who sent a rocket into the back of the net to give the Bruins the 1-0 lead 20 minutes into the game.Â
Looking to respond, Warner University went on the attack and Esther Young came off her line to make an incredible save and keep the lead for the Bruins. But after an accidental hand ball inside the box with just three minutes left in the first half, the Royals were awarded a penalty kick. Bruins goalkeeper Rebekah Shoop made good effort, but the Royals scored and tied the game at 1-1 going into halftime.Â
Following the 15-minute halftime break, the Bruins wasted no time getting on the score sheet again. Right after the second half kickoff, Anna Grace Abrams sent the ball forward to Brinkley Adams who raced down the field and sent the ball low into the back of the net to regain the lead for the Bruins.
Â
In the 64th minute, Gabriela Gonzalez tallied her ninth goal of the season, first of the game, as Anna Grace Abrams sent a free kick on frame where Gonzalez headed it into the net.
Through the second half, the Royals peppered the Bruins net with shots outshooting the Bruins 12 to 3 in the second frame, but it was the Bruins who came out on top in today's 3-1 win.Â
Following the game, Coach Carmichael said, "we had lots of good moments where our midfield rotation and possession was spot on and as such we were able to create some good scoring opportunities."
Forward Brinkley Adams said, "we defended well and each of us fought hard for 90 minutes to give us a big region win."
Despite being out-shot today, Kayle Stevenson, Brinkley Adams, and Gabriela Gonzalez each tallied a goal while Anna Grace Abrams served the assist for each goal scored.Â
"We have another short amount of time to recover before our next match this Thursday so our focus now turns to recovery at this time," said Carmichael. "We continue to praise God for his blessings on our team in so many different ways."

The women's soccer team is back at home on Thursday for a 4 p.m. match against Warren Wilson for Senior Night.Â
