Box Score The winning ways continue for the men's soccer team as they defeated Warren Wilson College 3-1 up in Asheville, North Carolina to extend their winning streak to six games. With today's victory, the Bruins improve to 6-3-1 on the season.
"This was a really weird game where many things out of our control delayed and almost canceled our match. It is always tough to respond in that environment, and I thought our boys did well to get the result tonight," said Head Coach Greg Fulton.
The Bruins came into tonight's game off of a big 4-1 result over Carolina University on Tuesday while Warren Wilson had suffered eight consecutive losses leading up to tonight's match.
As the game got underway, the Bruins would be the first to get on the score sheet as Gasheed Lareche notched his first goal of the season off of an assist from Peter Waddy. .
After the break, Bryce Ramler was taken down in the box resulting in a penalty kick for the Bruins. Peter Waddy stepped up to the spot and sent the ball into the back of the net to double the lead for the Bruins. But just a few minutes later, Warren Wilson would earn themselves a penalty kick and a goal as a result bringing the score to 2-1 in favor of the Bruins.
Looking to increase their lead, the Bruins would take advantage of their chance and with just under 10 minutes remaining Bryce Ramler sailed one across the goal from the near side where Rylan Boldt ran up to tap it past the goalkeeper giving Bob Jones the 3-1 victory.
Following the game, Coach Fulton said "ultimately we have a standard and when we don't achieve our standard we hold ourselves accountable and tonight feels a bit like a negative result. We created some great chances but we can't be okay with letting a team off the hook over and over as eventually we will pay. We now focus on recovery and our next match this weekend back as home."
The Bruins shift their focus to Saturday's homecoming match as they take on Regent University at 7 p.m. from Alumni Stadium.
