The Bob Jones University men's soccer team soared over the Erskine College Flying Fleet Tuesday evening with a 5-0 victory. Rylan Boldt highlighted the score sheet with hat trick in today's win. The Bruins have earned three straight shutout wins and now sit at 3-3-1 on the season.
"I'm super proud of how the team played tonight," said Head Coach Greg Fulton. "We were not perfect but in many ways we accomplished exactly what we set out to do in this game. This was not just a massive step forward for our season and a confidence builder, but a preview of how good we can be! This solidified our momentum as we are realizing our quality."
The Bruins entered Tuesday's game after shutting out Toccoa Falls College 5-0 on Saturday night while Erskine College was also coming off of a win as they defeated Barton College 3-2.
Just over six minutes into tonight's match, the Bruins would get onto the board thanks to an own goal by the Erskine team. The Bruins doubled their lead in the 38th minute as Rylan Boldt sent the ball low right into the back of the net. As the first half was winding down, Rylan Boldt scored again off of assists Nathan King and Ian Arendse.
After the break, Rylan Boldt was back with the hat trick from an assist by Peter Waddy to bring the Bruins goal total up to four. In the 59th minute, the Bruins were awarded a penalty kick where Mario Figueroa sealed the deal for the Bruins for their fifth tally of the contest.
The Bruins saw five of their six shots on target while the Flying Fleet only had one shot on goal of their nine shots.
"It is a huge boost to have most of our roster back as we attack the next half of the season," said Fulton. "We now shift our focus to a big region match up against Pensacola this weekend."
Up next, the Bruins are back home at Alumni Stadium where they host another South Region Rival Pensacola Christian College for a Saturday night showdown.
