The Bob Jones University men's basketball team is back at the Davis Field House for back-to-back games this weekend. On Friday, the Bruins host Pensacola Christian College for a NCCAA South Region contest before a quick turnaround to welcome New College of Florida to the Upstate.
It's been a stellar start to the season for the men's basketball team as they enter weekend 7-3. On Tuesday, the Bruins faced Toccoa Falls College. and in the 97-79 victory, five Bruins finished in double figures led by Elijah Cupples with 22 points.
PCC makes their way to Greenville on a winning streak after picking up a 100-93 win over Trinity Baptist College on Tuesday. The Eagles sit at 6-10 on the season and are 3-3 in region play.
Throughout the last 11 years, the Bruins and Eagles have met 18 times with Bob Jones holding the 10-8 series record. Last season, the Bruins dropped both of their games to the Eagles, but the Bruins look to defend their home court as they remain undefeated from the Davis Field House this season. Tip-off for Friday's game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
It will be a brief turnaround as the Bruins are back in action Saturday afternoon as they host New College of Florida for an exhibition game. In their first season of collegiate athletics, the Mighty Banyans sit on a three game winning streak and are 4-11 on the season. On Tuesday, late heroics by the Mighty Banyans saw them pick up the 70-68 victory over Florida National University.
Several members of the Mighty Banyans coaching staff are no strangers to BJU. New College of Florida Head Coach Andrew Wingreen served as an assistant coach for the Bruins from 2012-2017 while Assistant Coach Kyle McVey earned his undergraduate degree from Bob Jones University.
Saturday's game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. in the Davis Field House.
