Bruins Finish Ahead of Owls 90-76

Trevor Brunson led the way for Bruins as the men's basketball team pushed to a 90-76 victory at Warren Wilson College in Asheville, North Carolina Monday night. Brunson finished with 24 points with four other teammates also finishing in double figures. With today's win, the Bruins have improved to 11-3 on the season extending their winning streak.

"We have guys that are sick and others with injuries. It was a tough win in a tough environment," said Head Coach Burton Uwarow. "We hadn't played an away game in awhile, and it's always good to get a win on the road. Once again, we had several guys in double figures. Trevor Brunson had 24, Shad Vander Hart had 14, Kenney Garrick finished with 23, Brandon Wilkons had 11, and Hayes Brush came away with 10."

Today's game against Warren Wilson marked the 17 meeting between the Bruins and Owls. Since their first game over 11 years ago, the Bruins now hold the 10-7 series record.

From tip-off in Asheville, North Carolina, it was a back and forth effort as the Bruins and Owls exchanged buckets. A three pointer by Camden Gearhart put BJU ahead and started a nine point run to see the Bruins pull ahead of the Owls. BJU battled to give them a double digit advantage and at the half, the Bruins led 47-30.

Warren Wilson opened the second half with three point shot before Camden Gearhart, Trevor Brunson, and Tostadas Pouncey responded with buckets of their own to put the Bruins up by 20. Throughout the next 10 minutes, the Owls rallied to cut the deficit to just one point. After a foul by the Bruins, the Owls evened the score at 58 points after a made free throw by Warren Wilson.

The Bruins slowly began taking back their lead and put a double digit gap back on the scoreboard. Warren Wilson outscored Bob Jones 46-43 in the second half, but at the final buzzer, the Bruins finished ahead 90-76 over Warren Wilson.

Up next, the Bruins are back home at the Davis Field House for a Thursday night contest against Trinity Baptist College.
