Bruins Announce Facility Enhancement Projects

To better serve the Bruins student-athletes, the Bob Jones University Department of Athletics has begun work on several facility improvements across the Davis Field House and Fremont Fitness Center and have initiated a missions trip fund.

Last semester, the Bruins purchased a 24-foot LED scorers table located on the main court for Bruins volleyball and basketball games. It made its debut on December 15 as the men's basketball team welcomed Huntingdon College to the Davis Field House. The LED board has elevated the game experience for fans and webcast viewers. It also serves as a source of revenue to highlight Bruins sponsors and supporters as well as a visual aide for coaches to use during practice.

At the beginning of January, the Bruins Performance Center opened its doors for teams and student-athletes to train. Located inside the Fremont Fitness Center, state of the art equipment provides students a place to workout and better their game. As the Bruins continue to expand, meeting and workout space was needed for staff and students. The lobby of the Bruins Performance Center will serve as a place for the athletic department to hold meetings.

The volleyball team room is in the process of being upgraded as part of the ongoing process to provide locker/team rooms for all Bruins teams.

Additionally, a missions trip fund has been created to assist Bruins teams as they use sports as a platform for ministry. During Summer 2024, four teams will be traveling abroad for missions projects.

"We are so proud of our student-athletes and thankful for our coaches and staff who make such an incredible investment in their lives," said Acting CEO Alan Benson. "At BJU, athletics truly is a platform for ministry and provides a valuable pathway for carrying out our institutional mission.  These improvements allow us to continue to support our athletes and coaches in their pursuit of excellence and in their contribution to the overall student experience at BJU."

Funds for these projects have been made possible by the Bruins Athletic Club. Those looking to support Bruins student-athletes can make a donation here or join the Bruins Athletic Club by clicking here.

BJU is NCCAA DII member featuring 13 varsity programs and nearly 200 student-athletes.
