Under the Friday night lights at Alumni Stadium, the Bob Jones University women's soccer team came up short in a 3-0 loss to Carolina University.
As today's game got underway, the Bruins faced early pressure from the visiting Carolina University Bruins. Carolina got on the board just 10 minutes into the contest as they slipped the ball past goalkeeper Margaret Cummings.Â
Less than 10 minutes later, they doubled their lead, giving Carolina the 2-0 advantage heading into halftime.
Carolina added one more in the 55th minute as they slipped a shot past the Bruins goalkeeper Caroline Roland to make it 3-0. From there, BJU continued to press forward, generating several shots but were unable to convert. At the final whistle, the Bruins saw themselves down 3-0 to Carolina University. With today's loss, the Bruins now sit at 2-6-5 on the season.Â
Following the game, Head Coach Chris Carmichael said, "we continue to have technical breakdowns, and this is making things really challenging on the tactical side of things and has impacted our style of play. We clearly have to get better in many areas as we should be getting closer to where we want to be this time of the year. We have an amazing team and our shortcomings we have been experiencing fall on my shoulders. I do know that the valleys we experience in soccer will always make us better in so many different ways, and I look forward with anticipation and hope that we will peak at the right time."
It will be a quick turnaround as the Bruins are back at home for their final home game of the season on Saturday as they host NCCAA South Region opponent Trinity College of Jacksonville for a noon kickoff.
