The Bob Jones University women's basketball team fell in a 76-45 decision against NCCAA South Region rivals, Pensacola Christian College on Saturday. With today's result, the Bruins now sit at 9-15 on the season and 3-5 in conference play.Â
The Pensacola Christian College Eagles got off to a hot start against Bob Jones in the much anticipated NCCAA South Region contest. The Eagles went on a 9-0 run to open the scoring before a layup by Jenna Brooks got the Bruins on the board. PCC continued to control and at the end of the first quarter led the Bruins 25-8.
Â
The Eagles sank three consecutive three-pointers to open the second frame.  Despite being down, the Bruins were able to outrebound the Eagles in the second quarter as they continued to work to get back in the game. At halftime, the Bruins found themselves down 49-15 and in need of a big second half.

The Bruins made some good adjustments after the halftime break and had some good looks, but they struggled to get the ball in the net early before Keely Price got the Bruins on the board in the third quarter. With 5:14 left in the frame, Anna Layne Wylder got fouled on her three-point shot before she completed the four point play. The Bruins and Eagles each put up 14 points in the third quarter.
Imani Pouncey opened the scoring for Bob Jones in the final quarter with a big basket from outside the arc. The Bruins had several good moments as they outscored and outrebounded the Eagles in the final frame, but it wasn't enough as the Eagles finished the contest on top 76-45.
"It was disappointing to lose by the amount we lost by for sure," said Head Coach Mike LeViere. "We were outplayed in many aspects of the game. They shot the ball extremely well, but equally important, from the very beginning of the game they were the more aggressive team, and we let them take control defensively and never challenged them. They shot better from the three-point line then they did inside the arc and part of that is due to us giving up wide open looks to their shooters."
Coach LeViere continued saying, "with our youth, we hope this is a great learning opportunity, and we can be better and more focused the next time we step on the court."
The Bruins travel back to Greenville, South Carolina and are back home at the Davis Field House for a 7 p.m. contest on Monday against Clinton College for their penultimate game of the regular season.
