February 27 vs. #5 Baptist University of Florida
Time: 2:00 p.m.
Location: Toccoa Falls, Georgia
Watch
The reigning NCCAA South Region champion Bruins are hunting their third straight title this weekend in Toccoa Falls, Georgia.
As the #1 seed of the tournament, they go into the tournament as the favorites, but it is an extremely stacked field. Many think this is the best that the region has ever been.
The Bruins needed to await the result of the game between #4 Pensacola Christian College (PCC) and #5 Baptist University of Florida (BUF) to see who they were going to play on Friday. In a double-overtime thriller to begin the tournament, Baptist University pulled it off against a Pensacola team that had a lot of experience on their side. Now the Bruins and BUF will face off for the third time this season in the region semifinal.
Speaking of double-overtime thrillers, that is exactly what is was the last time the Bruins and Eagles played each other. In the Davis Field House last week, the Bruins beat the Eagles 139-131 in double-overtime. Both games between the two teams have been extremely high-scoring, so tomorrow might be the same.
If the Bruins win, they will move on to the South Region Championship game on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. A championship win this season would be the third straight for the Bruins.
It all starts tomorrow, though, as the Bruins and Eagles are set for another classic in the region semifinal. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
