Bruins Fall Short in the National Semifinal Game to Crown College

Box Score The Bruins fought hard, but could not pull out a win in the NCCAA DII Semifinal against the Crown College Polars and fall short 84-72. This concludes a historic season for the Bruins.

The Bruins got out to a very hot start in the first half to get a quick 8-0 lead, but cooled down shortly after. Trevor Pittman was responsible for eight of the first 10 points of the game for the Bruins. The Polars answered back with second-chance points to tie it up at 13-13. After that, both teams went on a three minute scoring drought due to good defense from both sides. Shad Vander Hart then led the Bruins through a cold finish to the first half scoring 10 of the last 13 points in the half. During the cold offensive streak, the Polars made several three pointers to give the Polars a 39-29 lead at halftime.

In the second half, the main objective for the Bruins was to claw their way back into this game, and they did. Their deficit fluctuated as the teams would trade baskets but the Bruins finally came all the way back and took the lead with seven minutes remaining with a three pointer from Brandon Wilkins. Unfortunately for the Bruins, the Polars took the lead right back and was able to extend the lead throughout the rest of the game. The Bruins fought until the end, but couldn't complete the comeback win. The final score was 84-72.

Shad Vander Hart led the Bruins again with 26 points and 13 rebounds to add to his great tournament performances. He was named to the All-Tournament team for his three performances. Trevor Pittman totaled 21 points and Wilkins followed with 12 points.

This concludes the 2025-26 season, the first under the leadership of Tony Miller. The Bruins finish with a 16-7 record, their third straight region championship, and the program's second national semifinal appearance ever.
