Box Score While much of the country spent Labor Day away from work, the Bruins spent the holiday on the road, traveling to Mary Baldwin University to take on the Fighting Squirrels, an NCAA Division III opponent, and earning a 4-0 win.

"I'm really proud of how the boys responded today," Head Coach Greg Fulton said. "We knew it was gonna be a physical battle on a really tight field, which is typical of our region so it was a great test for us. We controlled the game from start to finish and took many of our chances. There's still so much for us to work on as it's early in the season, but this is a great step forward as we get into a longer break to continue to build!"

The Bruins began their domination right out the gate and opened up the scoring just five minutes in. Freshman Solomon Leaman found Jackson Reinhard who buried the shot for his third goal of the season so far. It wasn't long until the Bruins tacked on to their lead in the 26th minute when Dylan Poweska scored a header for his first career goal to give the Bruins a 2-0 lead from a free-kick assist by Bucky Provenzano. And to close the half in 41st minute, the Bruins won a penalty kick that senior captain Reid Burgin put past the keeper to give the Bruins a 3-0 lead going into halftime.

The Bruins continued their dominant performance in the second half, but was only able to put one more goal away despite having 12 shots in the half. That final goal of the day came when Noah Burkett scored a slashing shot with his left from the top of the box in the 57th minute.

The Bruins outshot the Fighting Squirrels 21-6 and had five more corner kicks than they did too. The big lead allowed several Bruins to get significant minutes off the bench.

Now the Bruins look ahead to a week of training before their next match against Newberry College on Tuesday, September 15. That match will kick off at 7:00 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
