Burton Uwarow was named the head coach for the Bruins men's basketball team in April of 2017.
Since beginning his tenure as head coach, Uwarow has been named the NCCAA DII South Region Coach of the Year four times and the NCCAA DII National Coach of Year for the 2023-2024 season. He has coached the Bruins to four south region championships and the Bruins have competed in the NCCAA national tournament six times.
During his tenure, the Bruins have had 13 NCCAA Scholar-Athletes, 19 All-Region players, 1 Region Freshman of the Year, five South Region Players of the Year, and six NCCAA All-Americans.
Before coming to Bob Jones University, Uwarow coached the varsity basketball team at Creekside Christian Academy in McDonough, Georgia. In just seven seasons, he transformed the team from a first year program into state champions, winning three Division I-AA State Championships. He has also served in head coaching positions for public and private schools in South Carolina, Virginia and Georgia.
Coach Uwarow strives to build excellence in his athletes on and off the basketball court, Several players under Coach Uwarow have gone on to play at NCAA, NAIA and NCCAA basketball programs while some have even reached professional levels while playing overseas. Uwarow believes that athletics are a platform for building character and confidence in student-athletes, and he is very passionate about imparting lessons to his players that will benefit them as citizens, employees, parents, and friends.
Uwarow graduated in May 2022 with his Master of Sport Administration and Coaching degree from Bob Jones University (BJU). He also has a Health and Fitness degree from BJU.
