Coach Hotchkin returns to his alma-mater after a 17-year head coaching career within the NAIA and the NCCAA. Hotchkin comes to Bob Jones University from Grace College (Winona Lake, IN). Grace currently ranks #9 in all-time wins within the NAIA (345), and Hotchkin was at the helm for 112 of those victories, making him the winningest coach in the 52 year history of the Grace College Men’s Soccer program.

Most recently, he led the Lancers to the semi-final match of the 2018 NCCAA D1 National Championship Tournament where they lost in double overtime. Grace finished the 2018 season just outside the NAIA Top 25 Rankings and finished with a record of 15-4-4. In 2017, the Hotchkin led Lancers captured the Crossroads League Tournament Championship, and following that, lost 1-2 to Baker (#5) in the NAIA National Championship Tournament. 2016 saw Hotchkin named the Crossroads League Coach-of-the-Year, and also the United Soccer Coaches Region Coach-of-the-Year, when he led the Lancers to a record of 14-7-3 – Grace’s most wins in a season since 1983.

The Lancers went undefeated at home in 2014 with a record of 7-0-2. Hotchkin led the Lancers to 6 NCCAA National Championship Tournaments in the last 7 Years. Prior to Hotchkin’s arrival in Winona Lake, the Lancers had not reached the NCCAA National Tournament since 2002 - and were near the bottom of the Crossroads League rankings. By the time his tenure ended, the Lancers were consistently at or near the top of the Crossroads League and he had also led the Lancers to 6 NCCAA Midwest Region Championship Titles.

Hotchkin began his collegiate coaching career at Northland International University (Dunbar, WI) where he led the Pioneers to 2 NCCAA D2 National Championships and 5 NCCAA Midwest Region Championships.

Hotchkin has led International Team trips to Zambia, Cameroon, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Brazil, Germany, Haiti, and South Africa. He sees these trips as a valuable tool to use soccer as a tool to reach people with the Gospel.

Matt is married to Jennifer, and they have three children.
