Team suffers second straight loss as growing pains continue

Box Score
After beginning their season with a tough loss on Friday night, the Bruin women took the court again for a matchup with the St. Thomas University Bobcats. The game took place in day-two of the Trinity Baptist College Tip-Off tournament in Jacksonville, Florida. The Bobcats were the preseason #2 ranked team in the region and the team is led by  two strong players in Constina Cousins and Dannisha Pierce.

From the opening tip, the Bobcats showed why they were one of the highest ranked teams in the region as the Bobcats swarmed the Bruins. Their physical play and speed outmatched the Bruins at every turn. Coach Harmony's ladies put pressure on the Bruin ball handlers and were able to force turnovers.

"This is a very good aggressive team," Coach LeViere said. "We have to learn to handle that big time pressure."

The Bruins were led by Kourtney Hoefler as she scored 12 points on the night. Overall, the Bruins struggled to produce any offensive runs as the team continued to fall behind. As the final buzzer sounded, the Bobcats won 86-28 handing the Bruins their second straight loss.

"We need to keep playing teams like this," Coach LeViere said. "We have to get used to this physical agressive play and be strong with the ball. The girls are learning and we will get there. Overall I am happy with our effort."

The Bruins will have a week to rest and recover before traveling to Westpoint, Georgia next weekend for a tournament at Point University. Despite their 0-2 start, the Bruins will continue to work hard knowing the wins will eventually come.
