They say try, try and try again when trying to achieve a goal. The same could be said of the Lady Bruins soccer team as they scored five second-half goals en route to a 5-0 win on the road against the Laurel University Lions. "Every player contributed to this win for us tonight," Bruins' coach Chris Carmichael said. "Laurel has a solid team and played well but we just really possessed well as a team tonight."

The Bruins were playing Laurel University after completing a two-game Florida road trip in which the team went 1-0-1. The Bruins defeated Florida College on Thursday night, and battled to a draw against rival Clearwater Christian College on Saturday afternoon. The team has switch up some tactical strategy and it looks to be paying off as the team is beginning to fire on all cylinders.

From the opening kickoff, the Bruins controlled possession and showed great control in moving into the attacking third for shots. The team outshot the Lions 27-4 throughout the match as the chemistry of the Bruins seemed at an all-season high. Despite their chances, the Bruins yielded zero goals in the first half as the two teams went into the break 0-0.

In the second half, the Bruins would finally bring the Lions defensive wall down as Jenn Wise found Katie Hummel who bent a beautiful shot just inside the 18 to put the Bruins up 1-0. Minutes later, good combination play from Adi Blaj to Anna Daulton resulted in a rebound opportunity for Kristen Haertlein who finished the play to make it 2-0.

Two goals by Rebecca Luttrell and a goal by Sarah Herr helped the Bruins to run away with the match in a 5-0 victory. "Our possession was very good in this match," Coach Carmichael said. "We hit a high rate of possession that opened up a lot of attacking opportunities for us."

With the win, the Bruins improve to 8-3-2 on the season. Rebecca Luttrell led the way with two goals while Sarah Herr picked up one goal and one assist. Katie Hummel scored her first goal as a Bruin while Anna Daulton, Jenn Wise, Isobel Johnston and Ally Jenkins each recorded an assist for the Bruins.

The Bruins will return home this Friday night as the team welcomes Tennessee Temple University to Alumni Stadium.
