8-0 win over Kentucky Christian University
The Lady Bruins came into the match on Friday night with a 3-game winning streak and were 7-8 on the season. The Knights started off the season with a 5-1 record but had dropped 4 straight heading into the match against BJU. The crisp weather of Alumni Stadium provided a beautiful evening for a soccer match as both teams took the pitch.

From the opening whistle, the Bruins controlled possession generating several early opportunities. In the 11th minute of play, Mimi Lozano opened the scoring for the Bruins with a rocket shot to put the team up 1-0. Just four minutes later, Abby Davis danced around the defenders and scored off a well-placed shot off the crossbar to make it 2-0. Goals by Spencer Martin and Anna Daulton helped the Bruins finish off the half with a comfortable 4-0 lead.

"We took quick control of the game and we continued to play strong and control the tempo," Coach Carmichael said. "It took us a little bit to get going but we were able to get into a rhythm and generate good opportunities."

The second half was much like the first as the Bruins generated a well-organized attack. Abby Davis notched her second goal just two minutes into the half to put the Bruins up 5-0. Davis picked up her first assist of the year as her centering pass was finished by Leah Edwards to make it 6-0. Davis finished off her hat trick in the 58th minute to increase the Bruins lead 7-0. Sarah Epperson provided the final spark for the Bruins in the 88th minute as she scored her first goal as a Bruin as the team shutout Kentucky Christian University 8-0.

"We have to be a team that tries to exert our will on our opponent," Coach Carmichael said. If we are patient with possession and possess with a purpose we'll continue to do well."

Abby Davis led the Bruins with 3 goals and 1 assist while Spencer Martin, Leah Edwards, Anna Daulton, Sarah Epperson and Mimi Lozano each scored one goal. Davis has now scored 9 goals in the last 4 games. The team outshot the Knights 37-1 including putting 17 shots on frame. With the win, the Bruins improve to 7-8 on the season and have now won four straight games. The team will have a quick turnaround as they play a conference road game in Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday afternoon against Trinity Baptist College.
