Bruins Battle for 81-71 Road Win Over Barber-Scotia College

Box Score
The Bruins picked up a road win on Tuesday night as the team defeated Barber-Scotia College 81-71 in Concord, North Carolina. With the win, the Bruins improve to 4-7 on the season.

"This was a good win for us tonight," Bruins Head Coach Burton Uwarow said. "Everyone got a chance to play and as we go into finals it is good for each player to get that in-game experience. Our bench really gave us some good energy tonight which helped us a lot."

The Bruins were coming off a tough loss to Piedmont International University on Friday and looked to bounce back as they took the court against the Sabers. The two teams had met earlier in the season with the Bruins winning 97-77 in Greenville.

From the opening tip, the Bruins and Sabers came out and traded baskets as the score remained close. The Bruins were able to rally off the play of Nate Ellenwood as the sophomore finished with 24 points on the night. The team also got a big boost off the bench from Luc Muhirwa and Tony Hettiger. At the halfway point of the first half, the Bruins led 23-17. The Sabers closed the gap as they cut the lead to 29-27 with just minutes to go. Quiyante Burroughs helped spark the Bruins as they took a 45-38 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Bruins stormed ahead with an 11-0 run as they led the Sabers 56-38. The Bruins played well defensively as they forced the Sabers into tough looks. Jayson Barnhart knocked down a three as the team built a 79-60 lead. As the final buzzer sounded, the Bruins improved to 4-7 on the season with an 81-71 win.

Luc Muhirwa sparked the Bruins with 12 points off the bench and was one of three Bruins to score in double figures. Next up, the Bruins will wrap up the 1st semester of play at Emmanuel College on December 15.
