The Bruins volleyball team enters the NCCAA DII National Tournament this week as the team earned the #2 seed. The Bruins come into the tournament as back to back DII National Champions (2018, 2019) as they look to defend their national title on their home court.
The Bruins will play three pool play matches over the course of Wednesday and Thursday. Based on results, four teams advance to the final four semifinal round on Friday with the winners playing in the national championship on Friday night.
In their first pool play match of the tournament, the Bruins will be paired with #6 Alice Lloyd College. The Eagles enter the match at 8-17 on the season and came as a replacement team after one had to withdraw due to COVID. Earlier this season, the Bruins swept the Eagles in straight sets as Victoria Glaze led the Bruins with 10 kills and 7 digs in the win. Tip-off for this match is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday.
Later on Wednesday, the Bruins will face a familiar foe in their second pool play match as they battle #5 Toccoa Falls College. The Bruins and Screaming Eagles have met four times this season with the Bruins winning three of those four contests, including sweeping the Eagles 3-0 to capture the NCCAA DII South Region Championship. Tip-off for the second pool play match will be 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
In the final pool play match of the tournament, the Bruins will face #3 seeded Dallas Christian College on Thursday afternoon. The Crusaders enter the tournament at 10-6 overall after winning the NCCAA DII Southwest Region Championship. The two programs haven't met since the 2017 season when the Bruins swept the Crusaders 3-0.
