The Bruins volleyball team will meet a familiar foe in the semifinal of the NCCAA DII National Tournament on Friday afternoon as they face #1 seeded Maranatha Baptist Univesity. The last three seasons, one of these two teams has won the national championship with the Bruins winning two of those national titles.
The Bruins come into the match after winning all three of their pool play matches. On Wednesday, the Bruins swept #6 Alice Lloyd College before defeating #5 Toccoa Falls College 3-1. On Thursday, the Bruins swept #3 Dallas Christian College in a hard fought match to advance to the final four.
The Sabercats come into Friday's semifinal after earning the #1 seed for the tournament, finishing the regular season with a 16-3 record. The Sabercats won their opening pool play match against #7 seeded Pensacola Christian College but came up short against #4 Randall University in a five-set thriller. The loss puts Maranatha in the final four as they will face the Bruins with the winner advancing to the championship game to face the winner of Randall University and Dallas Christian College.
Tip-off for the match is slated for 12:30 p.m. in the Davis Field House in Greenville, South Carolina.
