The Bruins volleyball team will wrap up the regular season on Saturday as the team competes in a tri-match against Regent University and Carolina University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
On Thursday, the Bruins swept Pfeiffer University as the team posted their 11th straight victory to move to 25-4 on the season. In the first match on Saturday, the Bruins will face Regent University as the Royals enter the weekend at 4-9 on the season.
Earlier this year, the Royals and Bruins battled on October 2 with BJU winning 3-1 in Emory, Virginia. The Bruins took sets one and two in convincing fashion before the Royals stormed back to win set three. The Bruins then edged the Royals 25-20 in set four to win 3-1. Victoria Glaze led the Bruins with a double-double 10 kills and 10 digs in the win.
In the final match on Saturday, the Bruins will face Carolina University in the next chapter of the battle of the Bruins. Carolina enters the match at 8-7 on the season, including winning two of their last three games. On Saturday, Carolina edged Belmont Abbey College 3-2 in a five-set thriller.
BJU and Carolina met earlier this season on October 8 with BJU winning 3-1 in the Davis Field House. Victoria Glaze turned in a dominant performance with 18 kills and 8 digs in the win. In their history, the Bruins own an 8-1 record against Carolina including a 3-1 record on the road.
The Bruins will look to wrap up the regular season strong in their Saturday tri-match. The team will face Regent University at 4 p.m. and Carolina University at 6 p.m. in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
