From start to finish, the women's soccer team dominated today's match against Trinity Baptist College and it paid off with a 10-0 victory. Katelyn Ashmore, Lexie Camfield, Jessica Townsend, Korbyn Griffith and Braden Adams were all able to tally their first goals of the season. The Bruins have now increased their winning streak to 16 games and improved to 17-1 overall.
"The team did a great job increasing our possession rate which helped to open up the field and created a lot of goals today," said Head Coach Chris Carmichael.
Mia Marks would kick off the scoring spree for the Bruins in the seventh minute to net her 17th goal of the season. The Bruins doubled their lead after Kayle Stevenson slid the ball to Anna Grace who shot the ball from the top of the box. The next three goals game back to back to back as Mia Marks, Kayle Stevenson and Jessica Townsend were all able to put the ball into the back of the net.Â
Before the first half ended, Katelyn Ashmore recorded her first two goals as a Bruin. In the 35th minute, Braden Adams tallied her first goal this season to bring the score to 8-0 at halftime.Â
In the 62nd minute, the Eagles keeper came off her line to try and stop a goal-scoring attempt, but Korbyn Griffith was able to slip it by the keeper and into the back of the net. The final goal of the game would come from Lexie Camfield as Sarah Ward passed the ball across the goal where Lexie was able to tap it in and net her first Bruins goal bringing the final score to 10-0.Â
"Everyone on the team worked hard to keep the possession rate high," said Esther Young. " The creative ball movement led to some really good goals."
The Bruins out shot the Eagles 24 to 3 and goalkeeper Rebekah Shoop only had to make three saves to keep today's clean sheet.
"The entire team was able to contribute to the win, and now we need to recover before our match at Erskine College on Tuesday," said Carmichael.
Next up, the Bruins will go on the road to close out the regular season at Erskine College.Â
