The Bruins will play in their third straight NCCAA DII South Region Championship on Saturday afternoon where they will meet a familiar foe in the #1 seeded Pensacola Christian College Eagles. The Bruins and Eagles have met the last two seasons in the region championship with the Bruins winning last year's region title.
The Bruins come into the game on the heels of a victory over #2 seeded Trinity Baptist College in the semifinal. Tamrah Konieczka led the Bruins hitting six three-pointers while recording a double-double 21 points and 14 rebounds in the win.
The Eagles come into the championship game after a decisive victory over #4 seeded Johnson University (FL) in the semifinal. The Bruins and Eagles met earlier this season with PCC cruising to a 74-52 win on January 15 in Greenville, South Carolina.
This will be the nineteenth time in program history that the two teams have met and on Saturday the Bruins and Eagles will write the next chapter of this rivalry. This time, it will be for the South Region Championship and a trip to the NCCAA DII National Tournament in Joplin, Missouri.
Tip-off for the championship game is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Toccoa Falls, Georgia.
