Eagles Soar Past Bruins 11-3

The Bruins dropped their third straight on Friday night as the team fell to Trinity Baptist College 11-3 at Conestee Park in Greenville, South Carolina. With the loss, the Bruins fall to 4-19 on the season.

"We just didn't show up tonight," Bruins Head Coach Brent Casteel said after the game. "We didn't choose to bring it and there was nothing we did to produce what we needed to produce."

The Bruins came into the game on the heels of a loss against Truett-McConnell University on Tuesday. Trinity Baptist entered the three-game series against the Bruins having own four of their last six games. Josh Crane would be on the mound for the Bruins as the two teams took the field.

In the top of the 1st inning, the Eagles took the early lead as a sac fly and a double put TBC up 2-0. The Bruins were able to tie the game in the bottom of the 1st as Riley Ramsey singled to score a run and Conley Burk scored on a sac fly to make it 2-2.

The Eagles came right back with a four-run 2nd inning to take a 6-2 lead. The Bruins tried to respond but the team wasn't able to get their bats going as the team managed just four hits throughout the game.

In the 4th inning, Patrick Laffery doubled to score two runs as the Eagles scored four total in the inning to push their lead to 10-2. Although the Bruins got one back in the 8th, the team couldn't claw their way back into the game as they fell 11-3.

"We needed to come out and make something happen," Coach Casteel said. "Trinity did a good job and hit well against us and we deserved to get beat tonight. Hopefully tomorrow we'll turn it around."

The Bruins and Eagles will be back in action on Saturday for a doubleheader. The team will honor the five seniors on the squad this season with game one of the doubleheader starting at 12:30 p.m.
