The Bruins baseball team kept their season alive on Tuesday morning as the team edged #4 seeded Southeastern Baptist College 6-5 in Springdale, Arkansas. The Bruins were slotted to play again on Tuesday afternoon against #2 seeded Kansas Christian, but the game was postponed to Wednesday due to weather.
"I'm very proud of our entire team for pulling off another win," Bruins Head Coach Brent Casteel said. "Especially proud of Garrett and the way he controlled the game on the mound as well as Brandon Davis for coming off the bench with a key hit when we needed it."
The Bruins came into Tuesday's game on the heels of splitting their opening day with an 11-0 upset of #2 Kansas Christian before falling to #3 Champion Christian on Monday afternoon. The Bruins now faced an elimination game as they faced the Chargers who were upset by #5 seeded Dallas Christian 13-1 on Monday.

The Chargers had their backs against the wall but were able to break into the scoring column with a pair of runs in the 6th inning to make it 6-2. In the 7th, the Bruins came out looking to finish off the Chargers and complete yet another upset.
Conley Burk came out for his second inning of relief but the Chargers were able to get runners aboard. Marquez Cooley then bunted into a fielder's choice to score a run and make it 6-3. The Chargers then had another fielder's choice with scored another run to make it 6-4.
The Bruins now had two outs and still had the slim lead. Deontay Robinson kept the Charger hopes alive as he doubled to score another run to narrow the score at 6-5. The Bruins knew they needed to dig deep and they got the out they needed as Conley Burk came up and struck out the next batter to help the Bruins hang on for a 6-5 win.
"We're looking forward to being on the field again tomorrow," Coach Casteel said.
Next up, the Bruins will play in another elimination game on Wednesday afternoon in a rematch with #2 Kansas Christian College. First pitch for the game is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Springdale, Arkansas.
