Bruins Unable to Defeat Columbia International University on the Road

It was a tough Tuesday night loss as the Bruins were unable to score and fell 2-0 on the road against the undefeated Columbia International University Rams.

"We lost to a top quality opponent tonight, and I was extremely proud how my boys outplayed them for the majority of the game," said Coach Greg Fulton. "We are learning tough lessons tonight knowing the better team does not always get the result."

The first half started out strong as the Bruins saw several opportunities, but after a foul on the Bruins, the Rams earned a free kick in the 29th minute where the ball was sent across the field then crossed right in front of the net and Romulo Barreto was able to slide the ball into the bottom corner just past Bruins goalkeeper Chris Monczewski.

In the 53rd minute, Lucas Galdino of Columbia International University took a corner kick where he kicked it right to Bryan Molina who headed it in to double the lead for the Rams.

"We have some work to do regarding maintaining our focus for 90 minutes and not allowing weird moments in the game to shift our momentum," said Fulton "But I am proud of the team tonight, and we will work to get back on track this Thursday."

The men's soccer team is back home this Thursday where they take on NCCAA South Region rival Toccoa Falls College in a 7 p.m. match.
