With just five matches remaining this regular season, the Bruins volleyball team looks to finish strong as the team will be on the road this weekend for a tri-match in Knoxville, Tennessee, on Saturday.
The Bruins come into the weekend at 19-8 after snapping a three-match losing streak with a 3-1 win over Pfeiffer University on Thursday. This weekend, the Bruins will be in for a tough test as they face Bluefield College and Johnson University (TN).
For the first match of the day, the Bruins will face Bluefield College. The Rams come into the match at 15-8 on the season including winning their last four matches including a 3-1 win over Milligan University on Tuesday.
This will be the fourth meeting in program history between the Bruins and Rams with Bluefield owning a 3-0 record against BJU. The match on Saturday is set for 1 p.m.
In the second match of the day, the Bruins will face a familiar opponent in the Johnson University (TN) Royals. The Bruins and Royals met in last year's NCCAA DII National Championship with the Bruins sweeping the Royals to capture their fourth-straight national title.
The two teams also met during this preseason in Greenville. The Royals come into Saturday's matchup at 9-12 on the season and are in the midst of a six-match losing streak including a 3-0 loss to Bryan College on Tuesday.
Saturday's matchup will be the 11th meeting between the Bruins and Royals with the Bruins holding a 6-4 record against Johnson University (TN). The match between the Bruins and Royals is set for 3 p.m. in Knoxville, Tennessee.
