Women's Cross Country Team Wraps Up Regular Season at Home

The Bob Jones University women's cross country team finished the regular season with a solid performance at home in the Bruins XC Invite in Greenville, South Carolina. In a field of several competitive teams, the Bruins placed third behind North Georgia University and Benedict College.

"Overall I'm happy with how the team did today," said Head Coach Ken Roach. "We're looking to peak at nationals in the next couple of weeks. We wanted to have a great race and have fun with it, but not wrap things up too early."

As the whistle blew and the race began, a pack of North Georgia runners mixed with athletes from Benedict College got off to a hot start. The Bruins were steady throughout and in front of the home crowd Joanna Lain led the home team and crossed the finish line with a time of 21:30.9. Finishing back-to-back for the Bruins was Margaret Snyder at 22:19.8 and Liesl Heinz with a time of 22:35.9. Following several Benedict runners, Lydia Flynn and Lauren Jones rounded up the top-five finishers for the Bruins.

The women's team completed the race with a team time of 1:52:49.

Also completing the race today for the Bruins was Elizabeth Farley, Hannah Cathey, and Anna Dodds. Full results from today's race can be found here.

Following the race, seniors Anna Dodds, Lydia Flynn, and Margaret Snyder were recognized for their hard work and dedication to the cross country program. Speaking of this senior class, Head Coach Ken Roach said, "It has been awesome to be able to be involved in these seniors lives as a head coach.  Each one has brought much leadership and commitment to the program in both Godly spirit and physical accomplishment. They will be greatly missed but will always be a part of this program."

Up next, the Bruins will travel to Joplin, Missouri to compete at the NCCAA National Championship on November 11 as they women's team looks to earn their third-straight national title.
