Looking to earn their first-ever NCCAA DIvision I South Region Championship, the Bob Jones University women's soccer team has earned the #2 seed at this year's tournament. This year's region tournament will be held on the campus of Columbia International University in Columbia, South Carolina.
The Bruins enter the post-season boasting a 13-4-1 record. It's been nearly a month since the women's soccer team last took to the pitch in regular season competition. They ended their regular season on a high note with a 5-1 win over Warren Wilson College on October 20.
"We have had 3 weeks off since our last game and will have a little rust we will have to shake off in order to settle into the game quickly," said Head Coach Chris Carmichael. "CIU is always a tough opponent and we will need our best effort. The players are all looking really sharp in training and we have had some of our best performances during the past few weeks and I believe we will be playing our best soccer at this regional tournament."
Region play begins Wednesday afternoon as the Bruins face host school Columbia International University at 2 p.m. The Rams enter Wednesday's game with an 8-7-3 record. The Bruins and Rams have met 7 times before with the Bruins holding the 5-2 record.
The winner of Wednesday's match will advance to play Carolina University in the South Region Championship match on Friday at 2 p.m.
