Eagles Soar Over Bruins in South Region Matchup

It was a tough road game as the Bruins fell to South Region rivals Pensacola Christian College 96-57 Saturday night. With tonight's loss, the Bruins fall to 8-13 overall on the season and 3-2 in conference play.

"There's not much to say after a game like that," said Head Coach Mike LeViere. "We were outplayed in every facet of the game. It seemed like we competed for a few minutes and then lost our focus. The effort is always there, but we just have to slow the game down in our mind when we have the ball. Our passing was often late and then off target, we dribbled too much and put ourselves into really bad situations which resulted in turnovers."

Pensacola got off to a hot start to tonight's game as it took the Bruins awhile to get in a groove. The Eagles scored 24 points in the first quarter and totaled 52 points going into halftime while the Bruins only scored a total of 23 points in the first half.

The second half proved better for the Bruins, but the team wasn't where they needed to be "in terms of reading the defense and making decisions with and without the ball," said LeViere. Bob Jones scored only nine points in the third quarter. The fourth quarter saw 25 points scored by the Greenville team, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit created earlier by the Eagles.

After tonight's game Coach LeViere said that "we are going to have to have the mental toughness to acknowledge and own the mistakes, learn from them, and then forget them and move on to the next game."

Next up, the Bruins will travel to Georgia to take on South Region opponent Toccoa Falls College.
