Brevard College Shutout Bruins in Thursday Meeting

Bob Jones drops to 7-29 on the season after being held scoreless by the Brevard College Tornados from Gil Coan field in Brevard, North Carolina. After falling 15-7 to the Tornados at Conestee Park on Tuesday evening, the Bruins traveled to North Carolina to close out the home and home series with a 5-0 loss. This was only the second time this season that the Bruins have not been able to score a run.

"Once again the score didn't fall in our favor," said Head Coach Brent Casteel. "We out hit the Tornados and Jerry Dunwoody pitched a great game. We're showing great signs of improvement, and the rewards are coming soon!"

The Tornados struck first with two runs in the bottom of the first. Bob Jones would hold off Brevard for more  two innings until the bottom of the fourth where the Tornados would make it 3-0.

Conley Burk singled to get on base in the the seventh inning. As Daniel Wood singled and Conley Burk advanced to second, the team turned to Chad Bayne to get something cooking for the Bruins. His single saw the bases loaded for the Bruins, but with two outs already on the board, the inning ended with three runners stranded on base.

Brevard saw two more runs scored in the bottom of the seventh inning to increase their lead to five. Unfortunately, the Bruins couldn't get any runners across home plate as the team fell 5-0.

Dunwoody pitched seven innings for the Bruins with Henry Wallach making his first appearance as a relief pitcher halfway through the seventh inning. At the conclusion of today's game, the Bruins led with 9 hits to the Tornados 6.

Bob Jones is back home on Friday for the first of two weekend games against Mid-Atlantic Christian University.
