Bruins Beat Barons in 3-0 Shutout Win

Hungry for their first win of the season, the Bob Jones University Bruins came away with the clean sheet and the 3-0 win as they battled the Brewton-Parker College Barons Tuesday evening in Mount Vernon, Georgia.

"This was a massive result on the road for our team," said Head Coach Greg Fulton. "Tonight our focus was shifting the momentum of our season by limiting our mistakes and taking our chances. Despite having a light travel roster, we are showing ourselves our deep we are and how good we can be."

The Bruins got off to a quick start as Bryce Ramler curled one on frame just two minutes in. They kept sending the ball toward the net and in the 43rd minute, their efforts paid off as Roussell Castillo stole the ball from the Barons and sent it forward to Victor Muenapale who scored to give the Bruins the 1-0 lead right before halftime.

After the break, the Bruins came out swinging and made an immediate impact as Sandro Martinez went racing down the near side and crossed the ball across the net where Zawadi Kashindi sent the ball right past the Baron's keeper.

Not done yet, Conley Burk got the ball past the keeper where Micah Hennegan stood to put it away in the empty net bringing the score to 3-0 in the 55th minute.

Things began getting chippy in the final 10 minutes, and as the tensions began to rise both teams went down to 10 men to finish the game.

The Bruins ended today's match with 14 shots and 8 of those on target. With today's win, the men's soccer program has improved to 1-3-1 on the season.

"We will celebrate the progress but will get back to work to gain consistency in what is one of our toughest schedules we have played," said Fulton.

Up next, the Bruins are back home to host NCCAA opponent Toccoa Falls College Saturday evening at Alumni Stadium.
