The Bob Jones University women's basketball team fell in a tough 74-52 loss to NCCAA south region rival Toccoa Falls College Tuesday night from the Davis Field House in Greenville, South Carolina. With today's loss the Bruins now sit at 9-10 on the season.
"It was a rough game all around tonight," said Head Coach Mike LeViere. "Toccoa is a good team which is why they're ranked in the top 10. We weren't ready and got outplayed tonight. There were flashes of good things on the court, but overall it was a poor performance and we have to bounce back from that."
The Bruins came into today's game looking to bounce back after their loss to Pensacola Christian College Saturday night. The Screaming Eagles entered the week 13-6 on the season after beating Warren Wilson College 75-58 on last Thursday.
Toccoa Falls jumped out to an early lead Tuesday evening going pulling ahead to a 10-2 lead halfway through the first quarter. After 10 minutes of play, the Bruins saw themselves down by 10 points.
The Screaming Eagles increased their lead at the start of the second quarter before Bethany Daulton halted their scoring by getting the Bruins on the board. As the quarter continued, Toccoa Falls continued to increase their lead and at halftime it was the Screaming Eagles on top 40-19.
After the break, the Bruins came out with more intensity as Hallie Ritter scored first at the top of the third. But then Toccoa hit four straight from behind the three point line jumping to a 52-21 advantage. The Bruins then went on a seven point run as they tried to cut down the deficit in the third quarter. In the final frame, the Bruins looked to slowly cut down the Screaming Eagles' lead, but their effort fell short as they suffered a 74-52 loss to Toccoa Falls College.
Up next, the Bruins travel to Toccoa Falls, Georgia for a rematch against the Screaming Eagles on Thursday night. Tip-off for Thursday is scheduled for 5 p.m.
