The women's soccer team is home at Alumni Stadium this Saturday as they welcome Georgia Southwestern State University to Greenville, South Carolina.
The Bruins come into Saturday's home game undefeated this season. After a 3-0 victory against Southern Wesleyan University on Tuesday, they boast a 8-0-5 season record. Throughout the season, BJU has out-shot their opponents 31 to 7, averaging 2.38 goals per game. Gabriela Gonzalez has commanded the lead with 13 goals on the year with Mia Marks behind her with four goals and three assists. On the back line, the Bruins defense has held strong only allowing seven goals this season. In goal, Margaret Cummings has made 62 saves with a 0.58 goals against average.Â
The Bruins will need to come out strong as they face a tough NCAA DII team this weekend.Â
Georgia Southwestern State makes their way to South Carolina with a 4-7-3 season record and 2-3-1 on the road. On Wednesday, the Hurricanes faced Clayton State University where they won 2-1 off of two own goals by Clayton State. While no one on the Hurricanes was credited with a goal on Wednesday, Lucia Bustamante, Siara Moore and Ellie Carrington each have two goals apiece this season to lead Georgia Southwestern.Â
Saturday's match will mark the first ever meeting between the Bruins and the Hurricanes. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. from Alumni Stadium.
