Carolina University takes Tuesday's Battle of the Bruins

In Tuesday's Battle of the Bruins, the Bob Jones University men's soccer team fell in a 2-1 decision against Carolina University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. With today's result the BJU Bruins move to 8-4-3 on the season.

"Tonight was an absolute battle," said Head Coach Greg Fulton. "This was one of those games we needed going into the post-season. Ultimately our team went to the edge for each other in a hostile environment. I am proud of the way they responded to hard tackles and verbal abuse while receiving very little protection. In spite of this we outplayed a good side and unfortunately made two errors that cost us the result. We leave this game with our heads held high knowing this gutsy effort is the performance we need come post season."

As tonight's game got underway, the BJU Bruins looked to get on the board and after several shots the Bruins earned a free kick. Mario Figueroa went behind the ball to take the kick and sent the ball into the back of the net to put Bob Jones ahead 1-0.

A couple mistakes later in the contest proved costly as Carolina worked the ball into the back of the net twice to take the 2-1 lead. After 90 minutes of play, Bob Jones found themselves fall 2-1.

Bob Jones narrowly outshot Carolina 12 to 10 sending 10 of those shots on frame.

Up next, the Bruins will return to Alumni Stadium Friday night for their final game of the regular season to take on Warren Wilson.
