Postseason Preview: #1 Seeded Bruins Volleyball set to compete at National Championship

The women's volleyball team punched their ticket to the NCCAA DII National Championship after winning the South Regional Championship. The 2023 Division II Women's Volleyball National Championship will be hosted by Joplin Sports Authority and Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Missouri. The National Championship will host eight teams and will be divided evenly. Competition is set to begin Wednesday morning.

There are two pools at the tournament each consisting of four teams. After finishing the regular season, the Bruins had a record of 28-5. They were ranked as the #1 seed for the regional tournament and went 2-0 to advance to the national championship. The now 30-5 Bruins were awarded the #1 seed for the national championship and will face the #8, #5, and #4 seeds in their pool.

The seeding is as follows,
  • #1 Bob Jones University (Greenville, SC)
  • #2 Manhattan Christian College (Manhattan, KS)
  • #3 Arlington Baptist University (Arlington, TX)
  • #4 Randall University (Moore, OK)
  • #5 Grace Christian University (Grand Rapids, MI)
  • #6 Boyce College (Louisville, KY)
  • #7 Faith Baptist Bible College (Ankeny, IA)
  • #8 Calvary University (Kansas City, MO)

Pool A includes Bob Jones University, Randall University, Grace Christian University, and Calvary University with Pool B including Manhattan Christian College, Arlington Baptist University, Boyce College, and Faith Baptist Bible College. Randall University and Calvary University both received at-large selections while the rest of the field won their region championships.

The Bruins will play their first two matches in pool play on Wednesday. At 2:30 p.m. the Bruins will face #8 Calvary University and then will play again at 6:30 p.m. where they will face #5 Grace Christian University. They will close out their pool play on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. against #4 Randall University.

The top two coming out of both pools will advance to the semifinals round on Friday. The winners of the semifinal will play for the national championship on Saturday at 2 p.m.
