Basketball season is upon us! The Bruins women's basketball team is headed to Brevard, North Carolina Wednesday evening to take on Brevard College in their season opener. Last season, the team went 11-14 and finished just short in the regional championship game, missing their opportunity to compete for a national championship. This year, the team is older and more experienced with 12 returning student-athletes and they round out the team this year by adding freshman Caitlyn Dickerson.

The Bruins and Brevard College Tornados have played on the court 10 times with the Tornados leading the matchup 8-2. In two games last season, the Bruins were outscored 49-67 and 53-79. This season, the two teams will clash twice more. The first game is this Wednesday, November 8 where the Bruins will travel there. The second game will be a home game for the Bruins as they defend their court on December 5.

The Bruins are looking for their fourth region title this season as they look to make a return to the national tournament. They currently have three region titles ('16-'17, '19-'20, and '21-'22) and are still on the hunt for their first national title win.
